Dr. Susan Galvan-Luis


Principal, Early Childhood Development Center,


Susan Luis is currently an elementary principal with the Corpus Christi Independent School District. As Principal for the ECDC, Dr. Luis provides campus leadership and support to ensure that teachers, students, and staff have the resources to provide a strong academic foundation for students in grades Pre-K3 to 5th Grade.


Dr. Luis works closely with the campus PDM team, campus leadership team and the Texas A&M University College of Education to monitor, evaluate, and implement programs which focus on academic achievement, parent and community involvement, character education, and student safety.


Prior to this position, Dr. Luis has served as Principal for Zavala Special Emphasis School, an Assistant Principal for CCISD at Calk Elementary School, Adminstrative Officer for Research, Testing, and Evaluation, and Advanced Academics Consultant in the Office of Academics. As a teacher, she taught at Ella Barnes Elementary School, Schanen Estates Elementary, and Los Encinos Special Emphasis School.


Dr. Luis continues to keep abreast of current instructional practices through her membership with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and through her involvement in educational development with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christ


She received her Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with the completion of her study titled,  The Impact of Bilingual Education on Academic Achievement and Language Development of Third Grade English Language Leaners in Texas, during the Spring 2010 at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.


In addition, Dr. Luis has completed a Master of Science Degree in Educational Adminstration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christ in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 1995.


Susan is a 1986 graduate of Richard King High School.  Susan and her husband John live in Corpus Christi where they raise their three children.
